Shrug Unanswered: aftermarket ignition spark box

Login or Register to hide ads.
Ok so i installed an msd spark box and the truck would maintain itself on, installed a spark box by summit and did the same thing, si took the module out and hooked it up directly to the coil, but im having trouble because it just wont start.

What do you guys think, would it be the coil that gets hot???

Well, do you get spark when its turning over? If so, then your timming may be off. Are you running a fuel filter, it may be clogged,...If your not getting spark, then there is your problem. I'm in Chula Vista too, send me a pm if you need more help.

Its been a while since i installed my MSD 6al but it seems to me there was something to the affect of voltage leaking. There is a ballast resistor i believe you can install to remedy this. check out page 8 it is actually a diode that only allows current to flow one way. This should solve your problem.

no theres no spark when cranking it, regarding the timing we did advanced it a bit due to the box, but fuel flow is fine, took my time to re install the module and the stock cables so it could run again.

I have MSD 6al boxes on my 86 k2500 and my 81 z28 both and havent had any problems with them just wired up and went but i also replace the whole ign system. They both have the box, pro billet distributer, and blaster SS coils.
