Default King of the Hammers trip

I'm thinking about driving out to the King of the Hammers race in Johnson Valley, CA. We have several customers that will be there and a couple race cars we've donated decals to and I would like to meet some of the people involved. Plus I think it would just be fun in general. Don't have a lot of money to make the trip and it would be a quick one, but I was wondering if anyone might be interested in co-driving and splitting fuel costs. I would drive my car which gets 25mpg. Haven't decided if I would want to camp or hotel; there are advantages to both.

I was thinking drive out Thurs, 2/11. Watch race Fri, 2/12. Maybe watch awards ceremony Sat, 2/13. Then drive home. The ceremony is supposed to wrap up by 11AM.

Toby & Nate are heading that way Feb 4th. I haven't talked with Stephen yet, but I'm sure they're leaving the Sunday or Monday before. I know we could be more directly involved with the race either hanging with the ORD crew or the other team we sponsor is BillaVista's from Pirate4x4.

Yeah, I gotta go see the wrap we produced in person.

I do think the Sledgehammer has a good chance to win KOH 2010, I'm just going to let it all hang out....

If there's enough interest Scott you might consider making it an annual road trip for Co Crew members. Good for getting together and spreading out the cost.

Right now it'll be me and Brigham and we should be spending most of our time hanging with the ORD crew. We're driving out Wednesday so we have Thursday to check out all the stuff/people around the event. We're going to sleep in the back of the car. After reading some of the info on Pirate, tent camping is just plain horrible. It is a desert so it gets down to the 30's at night. Apparently on the lakebed were the main pits are and everyone is camped, it gets very windy to the point where everyone's number 1 recommendation is to wear goggles because of the sand that's being blown around.

I don't know if it's something I'll do every year, but I definitely want to got at least once. That will give me a better idea how it all works.
