Default Pitkin Colo vs the USFS.

I am not sure if any of you have been wheeling around Pitkin Colorado, lots of old mining roads and areas to explore. But whether you have or not I thought you all would find this article about when the citizens of Pitkin took on the US Forest Service over the closure of the Powderhouse Gulch Road interesting.

Me & Mike and Oatsk5's Dad were up there about 5 years ago but I haven't been back recently. It's a beautiful area to explore.

Did anyone ask the USFS exactly why the roads were being bull dozed? Seems like there'd need to be a pretty significant reason with legal standing for them to isolate that whole mountain without any prior notice. I don't have any time to dig deep this morning so about all I came up with in a quick search was a PDF from around 2009.
